Councillor Community Grant Fund

A new version of the grant scheme which we had at the council some years has been launched. It is in two parts:

  • Divisional Grants with £3000 being allocated to each councillor.
  • Strategic Fund supporting projects up to £15,000 which can cover more than one Council Division.

Divisional Grants are for councillors to exercise their discretion to support schemes in their local area. The Strategic Fund supports larger scale projects.

As with all such schemes there are eligibility criteria to be met.

A range of organisations may be awarded funding these include parish councils, residents’ associations, charities, constituted community groups, social enterprises, schools where projects deliver wider community benefit and sports clubs and cultural organisations with a community focus.

Full details of the scheme including eligibility criteria can be found at :

Get your teeth into the dental survey!

Local NHS services are proposing to introduce new NHS dental services in Lincoln, Boston and Skegness. These locations have been identified as areas with significant unmet need and some of the poorest oral health outcomes in Lincolnshire. While the services would be based in these three areas, they would be accessible to residents across the county, within the capacity of the services. The proposed services are designed to deliver thousands more NHS dental appointments, with a particular focus on supporting communities who currently face the greatest challenges accessing care. In addition to expanding access to essential treatment, the proposed model will also support the training and development of the future dental workforce in Lincolnshire.

Care would be delivered by fully qualified dental professionals, supported where appropriate by dental care professionals in training, with the necessary supervision and governance in place.

Service focus areas

  • Early intervention and prevention
  • NHS dental treatment and advice
  • Signposting to specialist dental services
  • Targeted oral health promotion programmes

Public engagement

They are now inviting local people to share their views through a countywide patient survey. Feedback will help shape the final service specification and influence how the services are designed, delivered and monitored, ensuring they are safe, effective and responsive to local needs.

Survey link: Residents can complete the survey online at by midnight on Sunday 19 July 2026: lincolnshire.icb.nhs.uk/dental-access-survey

Road safety concerns

I have been raising concerns with Highways on behalf of residents and parish councils in the area about several issues including problems caused by vehicle parking,  improving the safety of pedestrians crossing roads. I am always happy to talk to residents about concerns they may have.

Going to the “tip”.

Officially called Household Waste Recycling Centres they are very busy in some places with queues forming. The council is considering having a booking system. I would be interested to know residents’ views on this. For example, would they prefer longer opening hours or more days or a booking system.

Confidential information about a contract shared outside the council.

The BBC and other news outlets have reported recently that an investigation by the council is taking place into the sharing of a confidential IT contract with a political party official. The investigation is to see if council rules have been broken.

News media report that the Leader of the Council Cllr Sean Matthews shared the contract with Zia Yusef, Chairman of Reform UK.
